Further Machin definitive news for 2019

News of another counter sheet Machin definitive has come from Royal Mail Tallents House.

In addition to the 1st Signed For, there is a 50p counter sheet available.  As this is a new Walsall printing there will be an automatic distribution to their subscribers for non-visible changes, and both these stamps will be sent out with the first new issue of 2020 towards the end of January.

Update from Royal Mail 21 November:

"The First Day of Availability for the Walsall prints of the 50p (code: DS500WL) & 1st Recorded Signed For (code: DS155LWL) stamps is confirmed for 21st January 2020."

Readers have already told us that the late November issue code-named 'Project Apollo' includes a prestige stamp book.

Now announced as Star Wars III - details here.

We understand that this will contain several new Machin definitives as well as all the special stamps that are in this ever-so secret issue which will probably start appearing in Post Offices as soon as they have opened the Christmas stamps!

At least there won't be any excuse for early release as all branches should have ample supplies of Christmas sheets and retail booklets.

  1. I saw on Buckingham covers today, a let the cat out of the bag offer of 1st day covers for the Apollo issue, no surprise really.

    1. If you mean their moon-landing commemorative cover, then I am afraid you have seen the wrong cat.

  4. There's a new Star Wars film out in December "The Rise of Skywalker" so my money is on this for the Super Dooper Top Secret Issue.

    1. The 2019 Royal Mail Yearpack has a picture of Han & Lando on the front, so I think your money is safe.

Isn't it now the law that the Walt Disney Company - including its Marvel and Star Wars franchises - has to feature on the most expensive issue (for those dwindling few who 'must' have one of everything which Royal Mail produces) of the year?

Although dates are undoubtedly determined to coincide with blockbuster movie releases, falling close to the end of the year invites those with more sense than money to abandon their hobby with the arrival of the New Year....

  6. RM 'Christmas 2019' publication dropped through the letter box publicising their 'gifts' etc. Prestige Booklets are publicised which reveals the subject of 'Project Apollo'. PSB priced at £16.70

  7. Is the 50p Walsall Machin in circulation, or is it still in the vaults of the Royal Mail ?

    1. As with the 1st signed for, and he much earlier £2, any new value may appear in post office branches before it is distributed from Tallents House.

Would have happened far less often in Martyn Fry’s day!

  8. Could anyone advise me what exactly you get if you add 'non-visible changes' to your Tallents House Standing Order? Is it just new year-date coded sheet issue definitives, or are there other items included? Many thanks.
