The last of the expected new printings of definitive booklets - the 1s class book of six with MSIL M20L coding has now appeared.
My thanks to Chris who has sent a copy for publication.
"First sighting of the missing £4.56 Booklet M20L MSIL in the Watford area."
Also found elsewhere now 'in a large supermarket' (for those who aren't avoiding them). Packaging date confirmed as 10/06/2020.
UPDATE 7 November
Of course the heading should have read 'Last Booklet Machin...' because we now have reports of the last Business sheet found in a Post Office branch in Norfolk. The printing date is 09/09/20:
2nd class Large M20L MBIL from Business Sheet printed 09/09/2020 |
1st Large Business Sheet: I also have reports that this sheet exists with the backing paper upright and inverted, for those who specialise that far.
Thnx Ian, not appeared on e bay yet
ReplyDeleteDo you know if it has normal backing paper or the newer whiter paper?
ReplyDeleteYou know as much as I do.
DeleteNewer backing paper. Was unable to obtain packing date.
DeleteJust as a matter of interest in case I've missed anything on the check list - Have the following Machins been issued or reported with year code 20? The 50p; £1; Business Sheets (Large) 2nd and 1st; 2nd Class Post & Go Machin. Thanks to all contributors, much appreciated when still in at risk in lockdown category awaiting hospital admission. Doug (Enfield)
ReplyDeleteThe list needs an update, again, Doug. No 50p & £1, and P&G is not included in the list but I don't think it has been seen.
DeleteThe 6x1st M20L appeared on eBay late last night: item number 264893501218, although there are only a small number of singles still left.
ReplyDeleteSome related information on the earlier backing paper question: 6x1st booklets with M19L but the whiter backing paper first appeared on eBay a couple of weeks ago. The vendor mentions a 13 March 2020 pack date. eBay item number is 313251585762

Further supply of the new Booklet found at a large supermarket in Ruislip. Packaging date confirmed as 10/06/2020.
DeleteChris, can you confirm there's no typo, please as another report says 01/06. Either could be wrong, both could be right!
DeleteDoug (Enfield) I collect P&G & can assure you that the 2nd class for year code CL20S has not appeared yet.
ReplyDeleteWaltham Cross Shopping Pavilion has a W H Smiths with P.O. counter and next door is Sainsburys. P.O. only has old stock, whereas the Sainsburys has had the new "20" books for a while. Packaging date unknown as books in elastic band with no wrapper. Doug (Enfield)
ReplyDelete1st large business sheet M20L MBIL turned up from Royal Mail direct. Date 23/09/20. SBP2i backing paper. The wavy line Royal Mail background is very difficult to read.
ReplyDelete1st large business sheet M20L MBIL on E Bay ref:- 233749338285
ReplyDeleteU3031 2nd Large M20L MBIL now showing on eBay #264927903335
ReplyDeleteI think U3031 is the last of the year's standard suite of M20Ls, if you exclude 50p and £1.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone postulate why there haven't been any coil/roll Machins (MRIL) since 2015 (2nd Class) and 2013 (1st)? My assumption is that they are no longer required (replaced by pre-printed 'stamps'?) but if anyone has a different definitive reason, would love to know! Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteI don;t think Royal Mail have ever said, even if they have been asked, but it seems likely that the digital postage pre-printed stamp image is what they are now having the direct mailers use instead of the (much more expensive) option of Royal Mail printing special stamps for them.
