No Royal Mail Stand at Autumn Stampex 2022

Royal Mail has issued the following statement.

“Following the notice of Industrial Action by CWU Postal Workers on Friday 30th of September and Saturday 1st October, Royal Mail Stamps and Collectibles has made the difficult decision to cancel our attendance at Stampex International scheduled to run from the 28th September to 1st October at the Business Design Centre in London.

Our Stamps and Collectibles team would like to apologise to all our customers who were hoping to see us at Stampex. Unfortunately, it proved impossible to organise and staff a Royal Mail stand at the show during the strike action.”

KEVIN: your comment is not directly relevant, as you say.  If you would like to email, I'll give you an answer.

  1. I thought Stampex was next weekend not April 1st.
Visiting the Royal mail stand to be able to make an educated choice of the stamps I want to buy rather than relying upon an uneducated operative in Sunderland or Edinburgh is one of my main reasons for going to London. I am very disappointed that they have made this decision at the 23rd hour.

  2. Be interesting to see how much that impacts attendance, I suspect a lot of people attend for precisely the reasons outlined above.

    1. Given that it's too late to publish this news in the stamp magazines (aside from Linn's) how many people will know? And they already bought their discounted train tickets.

  3. Very disappointing. Only 12 months to the next Stampex. By then we will have the King's face on stamps, and RM will have no doubt withdrawn the late monarchs Barcoded machins from sale.

    1. Only place to find all the new bar coded regionals together potentially unless anyone else knows differently? Has Broadway got stock now Trafalgar Square has closed

    2. Trevor, London SHC has told me that Eastcheap have limited stocks of all countries' barcoded stamps.

  4. Attended Stampex at 1040 hrs. Queue almost non-existent. Had intended to buy from RM stand had it been there. Purchased some stock books and left. Very quiet, no queue at all on leaving at 1100 hrs. The lack of a RM stand has definitely affected the number of customers coming to the event.
