Mobile Post Office update.

I've shown a number of Mobile Post Office datestamp impressions over the last few months, each accompanied by some detail of locations served - not always accurate, I admitted.

Thanks to Alastair N who has provided what he hopes is a complete list of Mobile Post Offices and the current locations served.  It's too long to quote here - there are over 60 different services, and one in the Lake District appears to serve over 40 locations.  Quite how that can happen in a normal week I don't know; maybe there is more than one van but in other instances two-van branches are shown as two separate entries.

This post summarises the Mobiles that I have already mentioned.  The original posts have also been updated.

November Postmark News

This is where all November slogans will be recorded and illustrated, as well as other postmarks of interest.  There aren't any slogans yet, so the first item is about a mobile/outreach service.

Slogans

Thanks to MC for the November re-use of the default Action for Children slogan from North & West Yorkshire on 05/11/2020.  UPDATE 10 November: My thanks to BM for a picture of the other layout from Exeter Mail Centre 02-11-2020.

UPDATE 10 November.  Thanks to BM also for a great example of this year's Remembrance slogan; the sender couldn't have guessed that his Dad's Army stamp would get such an appropriate postmark. This example is from Peterborough Mail Centre 09-11-2020

UPDATE 28 November.

Royal Mail's Christmas campaign has started not with the usual exhortation to post early, or listing the last posting dates, but with one which mirrors their social media and television campaigning for people to 'Shop Early, Send Early', which seems eminently sensible despite the optimism of their published last posting dates.

Shop Early,
Send Early this

Shop Early, Send Early this Christmas slogan postmarks.

My thanks to MC for sending this example from North West Midlands 27/11/2020, and to RW for the Croydon Mail Centre 27-11-2020 example. This campaign should continue into December and these postmarks will be copied to the December blogpost.

Other postmarks

Our peregrinating contributor JB of Lincoln has ventured south into Suffolk for his latest posting, which also presents a bit of a puzzle.  This postmark of STANTON OUTREACH SERVICES appears to be dated 27 09 20 - but it only arrived in our PO box last week. Unfortunately the ink-jet slogan machine postmark from Norwich puts the date firmly on the stamp and it is illegible!  I think the date was probably wrongly set.

Update 6 November: My thanks to PA who reminds me that the month is always in letters on these, so it must be OC for OCtober, wich makes a lot of sense!

Stanton Outreach Services A self-inking datestamp

As usual, it is difficult to get precise details of mobile/outreach services on the web, but according to a Suffolk News report in March 2019:

A mobile post office, which will serve nine village communities started this week.

The new service, which is serving Rickinghall, Yaxley, Walsham-le-Willows, Gislingham, Thorndon, Great Finborough, Norton, Ixworth and Hopton started yesterday (March 7 2019)

Outreach services are normally provided by a postmaster in surrounding villages using portable equipment provided to and taken out from the base branch to community facilities like village halls or public houses.  Unlike mobiles where the services are provided from the back of a vehicle when there are no community facilities, with Outreach the equipment (and stock) is carried in a private vehicle.

However, according to the earlier report on the Post Office Views consultation website:

We are pleased to let you know that we will be restoring Post Office services to the communities of Rickinghall, Yaxley and Walsham Le Willows with the introduction of a Mobile service which will start week commencing 28 January 2019.

The Mobile Service is a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle that brings Post Office services and retail products to communities without relying on fixed premises that has formed part of our operational network for some years now.

We are therefore pleased to inform you that the postmaster from Stanton Post Office is willing to offer services to the above locations. The establishment of Mobile services presents the best possible solution to restore Post Office services to these communities.

According to the East Anglian Daily Times the Stanton Mobile/Outreach also provided a service to Sicklesmere when that village shop and post office was engulfed by a flash flood.**

UPDATE 9 November:  My thanks to PA for the following information on Outreach and Mobile:

The Mobile Post Offices (i.e Vans with the PO installed within, which park at Village Hall or Pub Car Parks, laybys etc.) should have a datestamp “XXX Mobile” Hosted Outreaches (i.e the equipment is taken to and used inside a Village Hall, Pub etc.) should have a datestamp “XXX Outreach {Service(s)}”.

However, there are exceptions, Stanton Mobile uses Stanton Outreach – it is quite possible that they had run an outreach service in the past, but I don’t know whether that was the case.
- Scotby Mobile used a Scotby datestamp for me, but that could have simply been a case of the wrong datestamp
- When Cam took over the Mobile from Royal Wootton Bassett he had the old SID, but was told he shouldn’t use it and so he used one of his Cam datestamps. Eventually he did receive a new SID last year – Cam Mobile Van.
- Cliff Lane, Ipswich Outreach was using a Cliff Lane Mobile datestamp, but that was because they had previously run a mobile.
- Collingham Outreach uses Collingham H.O.S.
Two recently introduced Outreaches use Hurstpierpoint Hosted and Rodmill Hosted.
Of the locations you mention for Stanton Mobile, Norton and Rickinghall appear to have ceased.

Update 16 November  This is the self-inking-datestamp (SID) for Mattishall Outreach Services (Norfolk) used in 2012.  The SID is no longer in use, having self-destructed well before it wore out; the old single-ring datestamp on Outreach services while the double-ring datestamp is used in the branch.

Mattishall Outreach Services SID 2012 (left) & Older Mattishall/Dereham Norfolk single ring datestamp.

Outreach services started in the early 2000's - I have an example from 2009 - as branches were closing due to retirement or the closure programme.  Villages served have been Bawdeswell, Bintree, Foulsham, Gressenhall, Elsing, Lyng, and others.

It seems that the contributor who I have desrcibed as 'wandering' may in fact be staying at home.  The latest mobile postmark to arrive, last week, is from Markethill.  The only branch that I can find with this name is in County Armagh, and this is borne out by the Northern Ireland Mail Centre slogan added to this letter.

Markethill Co. Armagh mobile postmark  3 November 2020.

It isn't easy to find out which locations are served by this mobile, no response has been received from the branch.  A look at the Post Office Branch Finder webpage shows the following nearby: Cladymore, Lisnadill, Scarva, Ballyward, and Katesbridge. **

My apologies to JB who sends these covers, for not reporting on one which I received in September, for HEMINGFORD GREY MOBILE SERVICE in Cambridgeshire  I first saw this one on a first day cover for the 2009 Postboxes stamp issue, although none of the postboxes on the MS or Smilers Sheet was in the village.  The Huntingdon Post reported that the mobile was going to serve the village of Holme in June 2009. Other villages served are reported on various webpages as Over, Cambourne, but there may be others. **

The post office was also at one time hosted by the church with the vicar as postmaster, but as a recent report shows that the mobile will be at Hemingford Grey Stores while they are refurbished, that arrangement seems to have ended.

Hemingford Grey Mobile Service postmark 23 September 2020

**UPDATE 18 November. We now have accurate information on the services these mobiles provide, except Mattishall which is an Outreach.

STANTON (Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk)

Walsham le Willows, Bury St Edmunds; Ixworth, Bury St Edmunds; Thorndon, Eye; Norton, Bury St Edmunds; Great Finborough, Stowmarket; Stowupland, Stowmarket; Hopton, Diss; Botesdale, Diss; Yaxley, Eye.

MARKETHILL (County Armagh)

Jerrettspass, Newry; Cladymore; Lisnadill; Craigavon.

HEMINGFORD GREY (Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire)

Over, Cambridge (2 stops); Holme, Peterborough; Little Paxton, St Neots; Cambourne; Marshland St James, Wisbech.

UPDATE 24 November - YATTON OUTREACH (2)

Hiding in the spam folder was news of another outreach from JF, so sorry that this is late also.

Yatton 2 Outreach date stamp, 4 November 2020

JF visited the Claverham Post Office, which is hosted in the village hall three mornings per week.  The Postmistress was very helpful and gave me an impression of the date stamp above.  She said that Yatton also covers the village of Cleeve with, presumably, a different date stamp (1)? as they are open on two of the same mornings.

Whilst there is plenty of information on the web, particularly in local newspapers, about branch closures, there is no consolidated report on mobile and outreach services and who the provider is.

More news as we receive it - from you!

October Slogan Postmarks - and others

This is where I will post all slogans and other interesting postmarks reported to us or actually received in the post.

We had our first stamped (and postmarked) letter for a while today and can report that October starts not with a continuation of the Breast Cancer Awareness month, but with a simple slogan for Black History Month 2020.  This was actually used in Norwich yesterday, 30 September, so I will add it to the September post as well for the record.  Norwich Mail Centre 30-09-2020:

Black History
Month
2020

Update 8 October.  RW has sent a version of the above from Croydon Mail Centre on 07-10-2020 with the lines closer together, but the letters appear to be the same size.

Four-line slogan in the other format, from Gatwick Mail Centre 02/10/2020 (thanks to RW).

A clearer example from Gatwick dated 05/10/20 has been provided by KD (thank you).

UPDATE 9 October

Our thanks to JG for the latest slogan to add to the Covid-19 pandemic collection, which encourages the use of the Contact Tracing App for mobile phones.  This examaple is from the Jubilee Mail Centre dated 08-10-2020.

Protect your
loved ones.
Download your
nation's contact
tracing app.

My thanks to MM for supplying, as he says, a decent copy of the Tyneside MC printing on 09/10/2020 of the alternative layout, with different spacing.

Thanks also to BM for an even clearer one from Southampton Portsmouth & IOW mail centre on 15/10/2020.

UPDATE 21 October

Spotted on Twitter today, this seems to be marking the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, which was founded on 24 October 1945.  I'm sure we'll all be pleased to see a better example (or two)

United Nations 75 slogan postmark.

Thanks to AH, we have a decent example of the UN75 slogan in the other layout from North & West Yorks also 20/10/2020

This is the logo from the UN website, in English

Logo for UN75 - 2020 and Beyond

75th Anniversary of the United Nations slogan postmark

A clearer one from BM which at least shows the logo properly, even if the stamps were pen-cancelled.  This one's from Gatwick Mail Centre 21/10/2020.

UPDATE 27 October.  Royal Mail apparently mentioned this in social media on 23 October and provided this mock-up:

Also today we received a letter with the revival of Breast Cancer Awareness Month from Mount Pleasant Mail Centre on 24-10-2020.   However this one added to Stampboards.com by member GBCC from Peterborough Mail Centre on 26-10-2020 is better:

Other postmarks

Our mobile contributor and benefactor has been travelling again. When I collected a week's post this morning there were contributions from Great Massingham (King's Lynn, Norfolk) 29 SE 20 and Ripon Mobile 25 SE 20 (many thanks JLB!).

Great Massingham is a picturesque village about 15 miles NW of Dereham and 13 miles E of King's Lynn.  The postmaster operates a mobile service to numerous villages which have lost their post office in recent years.  This self-inking-datestamp appears to be the regular one for the village PO, but it may have been used* on the mobile so the letter could have been posted at any one of the villages shown on the mobile's Facebook page:  Harpley, Hillington, East Rudham, Great Bircham, Ingoldisthorpe, Snettisham, Thornham, Brancaster, Longham, Field Dalling, West Newton, Sedgeford, Weasenham and Hellhoughton!

UPDATE 16 November: According to an Eastern Daily Press report on 18 December 2019, further villages were added to the service some over 40 miles across Norfolk!  However, there is some confusion in this statement from Matt Hatfull, Post Office area network change manager:

"We are pleased to be able to add Weasenham St Peter, Helhoughton, South Walsham and Salhouse to the existing Mobile Post Office offered by the postmaster for Great Massingham and Great Aylsham.

"To accommodate these new services, we have made some minor changes to the current opening hours of the Hosted Outreach services offered at Newton St Faiths, Worstead, Bodham and Bacton. These changes will take effect from January 29, 2020."

Salhouse, South Walsham, Worstead and Bacton are all over 40 miles from Gt Massingham. The confusion comes from the use of the term 'Great Aylsham' as there is no such place, and I wonder if some of these services are actually provided from Aylsham post office, less than 15 miles from coastal Bacton. It is quite possible for one person to be postmaster of both places.

The Ripon Mobile operates out of Ripon Post Office in Yorkshire.  It was in use in Ripon from 18 - 28 September due to the relocation of the branch from Finkle Street to The Aracde, Market Square.   Normally these villages are served: North Stainley, Wath, Melmerby, Baldersby, Kirkby Malzeard, Kirklington, Cundall, Helperby, Kirby Wiske, Borrowby Lower, Borrowby Upper, Kepwick, Nether Silton, Staveley, Glasshouses, Masham, and Lofthouse.

UPDATE 13 October: the latest 'mobile' postmark to arrive here (thanks JLB) is from the Upwell Mobile. Information on the web and in news articles is conflicting - probably the coverage has changed over the years.  I think the villages visited are now Welney, Wimbotsham, Wereham, Christchurch, Marshland St James, Beachamwell, Fincham, Gooderstone, Magdalen, Narborough, Walton Highway, Wereham, Southery, Stowbridge, Oxborough and Nordelph all in West Norfolk where this was posted on the afternoon of 30 September, according to the note on the back of the cover. However, as you will see it was postmarked on 7 October, and today was the first time I collected the mail since the 6th, so I don;t know when it arrived in Dereham, hopefully on 8th or 9th.

UPDATE 19 October: Another Mobile Post Office cover arrived in our PO Box during the last week, and this one is a puzzle.  We know that JLB is in the city of Lincoln.  A Google search for 'Lincoln Mobile Post Office' finds a service provided to the village of Linton, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire so I'm guessing it's not that one because the canceller doesn't usually show the name of the serviced village.

It's most likely to be the one run by the Postmaster at Linton in Derbyshire, which is (or was in 2018) the biggest service in the country extending to four counties including Staffordshire.  The ink-jet postmark on this cover is from Nottingham Mail Centre.  According to postofficeviews, the 2018 consultation pages of the Post Office website, this office serves the following villages, and possibly more: Walton on Trent, Blackfordby, Sheepy Magna, Bitteswell, Abbots Bromley, Denstone, Whitacre Heath, Whittington, Fillongley, Hammerwich, Mapleton, Hulland Ward, Turnditch, Acton Trussell and Branston.

But there's also a Linton in Cambridge, and there may be others.  If only there was an up-to-date comprehensive list of Mobiles.  Please let me know if you find one!

UPDATE 18 November.  We now have accurate information on these mobile services.

GREAT MASSINGHAM (King's Lynn, Norfolk)

Mystery handstamp

At the end of last month JF sent me this image and I promised I would include it in October to avoid it getting lost back in September.

I don't recall seeing this one before, and it is obviously something pressed into service, probably at a PO counter.  JF writes:

As far as I can see the letter/packet has been upgraded from 1st class to 2nd class large and the cancel reads “P.O. 4235393” although on one strike the “O” looks like a “D”.  I have no idea from where the item originated but was probably received in Nottingham. The 1p stamps are M16L, the 5o are M18L & 1st is M19L &MSIL making the piece fairly recent.

It looks as if the number is the branch 7-digit FAD code used for accounting purposes.  These are often stamped on the back of promotional leaflets in branch for non-postal services, so that the branch processing the application can be identified to the central office.

FAD codes as identified in many places are 6 digits, with the 7th being added for checking purposes - I don't know the details.

I believe that the handstamp came from FAD423539 which is the code allocated to the branch in Bude in Cornwall.

Barcode question

Swindon reader RM has sent a scrap from an envelope which has this yellow-label with a black barcode placed near the foot of the envelope.  It's said to be from a letter sent from the UK to Australia - you can see part of the address 'TAS 7030' and hidden by the (peelable) label is the word 'Australia'.

We are all used to seeing red/orange barcodes on mail within the United Kingdom, and on some incoming mail from other countries.  This isn't an Australian mark, as far as I know - but I'm checking. From my experience this looks like a routing code applied by the US Postal Service.  Which suggests that the letter went to the USA in error.

UPDATE 20 October.  My friends in Australia on Stampboards confirm that this is indeed an Australia Post label.  The barcode is applied to incoming mail, as shown on this postcard from Germany and also to internal mail.

Modern practice is for there to be no Mis-Sort marks applies, certainly by the larger postal administrations, although some island nations still use them. (Steve Zirinsky always has a wide selection on his website.)  So if this did get routed via the USA, then such a barcode on the complete envelope would be the only way of knowing.  Unfortunately as it is an untied peelable label, even that is not certain evidence.

Any more slogan postmarks and other interesting postmarks will be added here as time permits

Our amazing readers - thank you!

Most posts on this blog are read by just over 400 or so regular readers, and many by several hundred more.  Some people have written that it is the first place they look every day - sorry if things were a little sparse last month!

Then there are the regular commenters who alert everybody to new stamps, or Post Office branch changes.  Others send information by email, and often when I am busy within or outside the office several people will write about the same eBay discovery.  Thanks to you all: often these are not individually acknowledged but I like to think that previous contacts and mentions reassure all contributors that their information is part of the foundation of the blog, and much appreciated by us and other readers as well.

As always there are what are known on internet forums as 'lurkers' - those who read and absorb but rarely have any news to contribute.  Sometimes these are our customers, sometimes they buy from post offices or Royal Mail, we don't know. Maybe they are not adding to the collections, but just like to read about stamps.

And then, out of the blue, there are letters, from people we don't know.

This letter came today from a reader who - as far as I have been able to find - last wrote to us in August 2012 about availability of Olympic Gold Medal sheets in Lincolnshire.

Eight years on, a wonderful piece of Lincolnshire postal history - these may be available for many years, or maybe only a few months.  Nice to have, so thank you JLB of Lincoln.

This letter was posted from the Mobile Post Office, serving sleaford which uses a self-inking-datestamp inscribed MORTON MOBILE.

The post office in the market town of Sleaford, population 17,500, at Greenhills convenience store in Southgate closed in February when, according to Post Office Ltd, "the lease expired".  A Post Office spokesperson said: "The lease where Sleaford Post Office is currently based is due to expire in February and the premises, which we do not own, will then be withdrawn for Post Office use."

The onset of the pandemic meant that a quick replacement was not possible, instead a short-term service was been provided from mid-February by the Mobile Post Office from Morton, 15 miles away but only for a few hours on Saturday mornings.

The Morton Mobile also serves small villages in the area, several of them for 4-8 hours on four days a week*.

Meanwhile the hunt for suitable premises and postmasters in Sleaford continues.  In the light of the litigation between past sub-postmasters and Post Office Ltd, known as the Horizon Trial, the quest might continue for some time.

For collectors of Horizon labels, the one from the mobile uses the Branch FAD 110444.

UPDATE 10 September
As noted in the comments, a temporary Sleaford PO has been opened with FAD 214501 at 18 Riverside, Southgate, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, NG34 7PD

My further thanks to JLB who has sent this letter posted on the last day of operation of the Morton Mobile at Sleaford.  It continues to operate at other locations - see comments.

* UPDATE 18 November
We now have more accurate information on villages served:

MORTON (Bourne, Lincolnshire)

Castle Bytham, Grantham; Buckminster, Grantham; South Witham, Grantham (2 stops); Colsterworth, Grantham; Corby Glen, Grantham; Wymondham (LE14), Melton Mowbray.

New Mobile Post Offices serve rural areas throughout the UK

Post Office has announced the roll-out its new fleet of mobile post offices, deploying 40 new vehicles to serve 250 locations every week in rural areas across the United Kingdom.

The new vehicles are Mercedes Sprinter vans, kitted out to provide a walk-in post office on wheels,
with the added facility of an accessibility lift.

The mobile branches are operated by subpostmasters who can bring all of the services that their core branches provide to more isolated areas.

The vehicles are being deployed to rural areas in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and will cover half a million miles between them over the next 12 months – the equivalent of driving along the Equator around the earth 20 times.

They are replacing the current fleet of converted LDV vans, which have travelled around three million miles altogether over the past six years.

Nomadic Pop-Up Post Office Shop - now you see it, now you don't, and guess what's inside ?

Royal Mail announcement 15 November:

Royal Mail are delighted to be working with Post Office Ltd on their Christmas Stamp Shop. This Pop Up Post Office is a large mobile trailer that will tour some of the major shopping locations around the UK in the run up to Christmas.

The Post Office will be selling Christmas Stamps and Smilers.  In addition, Royal Mail’s own Post and Go terminal will be vending Post and Go stamps.  The truck will be open from 11 am - 7 pm

Full details are listed below:

·         Royal Mail’s Post and Go machines used for Exhibitions:  A3 and A4
·         Post and Go Stamps: Robins (MA13) and 2nd Class (MA12) - not MA13* §§
·         There is no overprint
·         Receipts will be unique to each venue
·         The Smilers sheets will be available in 10 and 20 stamp sheets with the following designs available:
o   Madonna and Child 1st and 2nd class - no 2nd class
o   Christmas 2012 Santa 1st Class may be available dependant on early demand

§§  Well, so much for official information sources.  If this is a foretaste of what we can expect now that Royal Mail and Post Office Ltd are split, and external contractors are involved, the future looks to be full of confusion.

After the original MA13 report was countered by Royal Mail,  yesterday evening I received a report that the MA13 2nd class Faststamps had indeed been purchased at Newcastle on day 1, for a brief period.  Evidence from eBay and another blog shows that MA12 stock was loaded in both machines initially but that MA13 stock was loaded part-way through the morning of 20 November (Day 1).

I delayed reporting this initially because I wanted to find out whether the stamps were available from both machines and whether our representative on the road had was able to secure any for our customers.  (My initial thought was that he might not have made the journey when the 'no MA13' correction was made.)  I now believe that we may be able to secure some and make some FDCs for our customers.  More news to those customers later.  I've been told that only 2 rolls (of 1500 labels) were available.  But that does not mean that there may be more later depending on usage - by Shepherds Bush who knows what might be available.

MINT NOW IN STOCK ON OUR WEBSHOP - FDCs now in!

UPDATE 26 NOV:  An pair of stamps listed on eBay bought at Glasgow on Sunday morning (24th) is reported to have MA13 code, and we have since had reliable information that MA12 was available on Saturday, but MA13 was on sale on Sunday.  Both MA12 and MA13 were available at Liverpool.

Thanks to Mike, here are some pictures from Newcastle:

Click on the 'receipt' image to see a larger version.

(Note London Westfield is Shepherds Bush, not Stratford.)

UPDATE 9 DECEMBER:
Thanks to several contributors for this information.

Glasgow: 23 November both machines had MA12 2nd class.  24th November MA13 loaded and session numbers 2536(A3) and 2569(A4) obtained.

Birmingham:
5th December: Machine A3 had MA13 Robins and MA13 2nd class and A4 had MA13 Robins and MA12 2nd class.   After 2pm - the 2nd class roll MA13 was now sitting in A4 and A3 was holding the MA12.
Visited twice on the 5th and once on the 6th. Business was slow on the 1st day with no crowds and no queue
The system was in use by the public but not in any quantity and used mainly for an individual value e.g. a Christmas card to Canada or a letter to Hong Kong. Sales push was with the Smilers and as these were ordered through the machine each sale would be logged and go on the final total figure so even though there might have been 40 transactions it would include the Smiler requests.

I am surprised that this wandering trailer - we used to know them as Mobile Post Offices - is making such a passing visit to each location.   Last year, Post Office Ltd announced that the pop-up post office (which opened on 30 November) was:

"The first of its kind to be found in the UK is located in Camden Market and is showcasing a range of collectible and retail items. The Pop Up shop will be open seven days a week and customers will benefit from extensive opening hours as well as a range of services including posting and packaging.  To help make life easier for customers a gift wrapping service is also available with all donations going to BBC Children in Need."

I haven't had a formal statement from Post Office Ltd about the rationale behind the tour, but understand that the focus is on selling stamps - expect there to be blow-ups of the competition winners designs - and instant Smilers.  There will be no counter services, no Horizon system, though there may be a posting box, presumably with mail to be offloaded into the local mail distribution system. So although they are described as post offices, they are really just post office retail units.

There is no doubt that - despite initial difficulties in actually finding it - customers made the Camden unit a great success.  The new mobile trailers - to be located in major shopping streets or covered shopping centres - will stand out.  It seems they won't be tucked away in an otherwise vacant corner.   But can the same sort of success be replicated when the unit is only in one place for two days?

By chance the Camden unit's turnover included significant philatelic sales as collectors and dealers found definitive stamps not previously available from Royal Mail's Tallents House bureau or from many post office branches, and further supplies were made available as collectors bought up initial stocks.  Philatelic sales will be far lower (pro rata) at these venues than at Camden last year, although collectors will certainly flock to Newcastle on 20th November for the new 2nd class Machin Faststamps with year code MA13 simply because it will be available for the first time.
(see above!)
But one has to question why it exists, given that stocks of the MA12 version were sold only at Spring Stampex and in bureau packs and have never appeared in Post Office Wincor-Nixdorf machines.   I'm not one for using the term 'cynical exploitation' but I feel sure that the original print run of MA12 2nd class Machin Faststamps has not been exhausted.
