British commmemoratives going off sale soon.

Royal Mail have announced the off-sale dates before Christmas for the following issues:

31 August - Dame Shirley Bassey

30 September  - Blackadder and Discworld

31 October - Flying Scotsman (the last QE2 stamp)

31 December - Iron Maiden

I would suggest ordering before those dates if you want to be sure of getting any of these, especially the last as your order might not be dealt with as quickly during the Christmas/New Year holiday period.

  1. Useful to know: I have nearly run out of Blackadder 2nd Class for letters. Presumably the forthcoming 2nd Class Monty Python ones will be in the same 5x5 gummed format. Because daily 2nd Class delivery ends next week these may bee teh last 2nd Class commemoratives, leaving only 1st class to collect.

    1. I don't think delivery of 2nd class on alternate days means that there will be no more 2nd class stamps. There is no logic there, not that Royal Mail are known for logical stamp issuing, witness the £1 and £2 special issues!

  2. I wouldn't count on using MPFC 2nd-class as all stamps are 1st-class!

    1. I do not earn much as a lumberjack so I am hoping to have the cheaper 2nd class stamps to send my dead parrot to the taxidermist. I hope the Ministry of Silly Stamps will produce some, and not just Holy Mail-price ones...

    2. There aren't any MP second class stamps.
