CANCELLED: Andy Murray Commemorative Postmark

Following Andy Murray's US Open win, Royal Mail are making a special commemorative postmark available dated 11th September 2012, which will be available for 28 days.

 The postmark will be for the post town of Dunblane, FK15.

 We will post the image and code as soon as we have it.
Royal Mail have now announced that following some debate on policy for handstamps, the special postmark will no longer be happening.

    I think that's unfair. They say that Murray will get his own US Open win Postmark (quite rightly so too), and then say they can't because of problems. Very harsh.

      It certainly seems pretty harsh. It has triggered some re-evaluation of the relevant policies, so perhaps it will not happen again.

      At least Murray got himself an OGMW stamp :-)

    I found someone via Postcrossing in the US with their own postmark, because they had a mailer's postmark permit...

    How do these pictorial postmarks work? I noticed there was a postmark for Harlech (was it available in Harlech?) but nothing for Portmeirion...

    See http://t.co/GEOkPd9A - All the outline details are on Royal Mail's website; specific details are in the Postmark Bulletin. You can get a sample copy from RM or if you send your email address to us we can send you a pdf sample of an older one.

    In short, postmarks are not available in the places named, they are applied in special philatelic postmarking centres to ensure high-quality production and handling.
