Post Offices sell Large Diamond Jubilee Machin stamps early.

As mentioned earlier in the blog, and on our website, the Diamond Jubilee

"1st class Large versions will be issued in March or April when the new tariff stamps are issued."

However, intent and actuality are not always the same thing, and as PO Supplies Department at Swindon have sent these to some Post Office branches already, some of those are selling them already.  This one came from a post office branch:

With the official first day of issue some weeks away, we will be interested to hear of any reports of these appearing on your mail!  Leave a comment !  (Thanks as usual to RP for the picture.)

  1. It wasn't clear whether this was from a counter sheet or a business sheet or a book of 4. Judging by what RP is selling on Ebay, I'm guessing a counter sheet.

    1. You're correct, I should have mentioned that. As many POs still have large stocks of earlier business sheets (some POs still have the pre-security PIP ones), who knows when Business Sheets of these will appear? I don't think our local PO has had the 'small' letter Business Sheets yet!

  4. I suppose as the Booklet and Business Sheet stamps have not yet been found, First Day Covers of all three on the eventual first day might still be required by our customers :-(

    1. We've also had a report that the Business Sheet bought from a PO is now on sale on eBay. So only the booklets to find now, folks!

As our correspondent wrote, "all it needs now is for Royal Mail to actually issue them!" FDCs will still be available on the official issue date - are they relevant?
