But I do get annoyed about collectors thinking that counter sheet Machins are issued for their benefit (or otherwise). Philatelic use of such stamps is miniscule compared to operational requirements. We seem to encounter this misconception amongst collectors every year - the Machin tariff issue is for operational purposes, not for stamp collectors.
It is a very common mistake to assume that the number of counter sheet machins sold to collectors has any bearing on what they decide to issue, the numbers used for actual operational purposes are vastly in excess of those sold for philatelic purposes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61379575088648114.post-58161173637981988302015-03-10T11:44:20.846+00:002015-03-10T11:44:20.846+00:00Mmmm, I wonder if Stanley Gibbons thought collecti...Mmmm, I wonder if Stanley Gibbons thought collecting modern stamps was a waste of time when he started?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61379575088648114.post-85698296432657525892015-03-10T11:26:40.266+00:002015-03-10T11:26:40.266+00:00I think this is on the wrong blogpost, John, and s...I think this is on the wrong blogpost, John, and should be on the one showing new stamps up to £3.30.
But you're right about Christmas, I think.Ian - Norvichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16436130277706268046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61379575088648114.post-40930685868018184512015-03-10T10:59:03.587+00:002015-03-10T10:59:03.587+00:00If Royal Mail wanted to discourage collectors from...If Royal Mail wanted to discourage collectors from collecting Machins they couldn't have done a better job.
